Atukula Upma / Poha upma
Hi..
Ingredients:-
Thick Atukulu /Poha 2 cups
Mustard seeds 1/2 tspn
chanadal 1 tspn
urad dal 1 tspn
peanuts /ground nuts –10
cashews –10 (optional)
Onion one small , cut into slices length wise
green chillies 3 , cut into length wise
Small piece of ginger…made into tiny pieces.
curry leaves few
coriander leaves/kothimira 2 stems
turmeric powder 1/4 tspn
Lemon juice 1 and half spoon
salt to taste
Oil 1 and half tspn
Procedure:-
- Wash the poha with cold water n drain it to remove the excess water…( it should be washed jus before lighting the stove foe making upma)
- Heat the skillet with Oil..
- When the oil is hot enough ..reduce the flame to sim…add cumin mustard,chana dal, urad dal, ground nuts n cashews..when the mustard seeds splutters..add chopped onion,green chillies and chopped ginger.Let it saute for a minute..
- Now add the turmeric powder and salt..stir it well n add drained poha ..stir it again so that the poha gets coated with salt , turmeric powder n the taste of spices..Let it cook for 5 to 10 minutes on low flame….
- Just before offing the flame add enough lemon juice ..stir it well..adjust the salt if necessary n off the flame.. garnish it coriander leaves..Serve hot r warm.
Note:-
1.if the poha is washed much before we start coking poha..they will become soft n mashed..
2.Adjust the ingredients according the amount of poha u r cooking
3.some times this poha upma will become hard later..so better to eat this when it is hot r warm.
4.Add little lemon juice n taste to check whether it is sufficient…add more if required..instead of adding all the juice at a time..
5.Tasty if we have it with a cup of curd.
