Bread upma
This is one of the easy and instant evening snack or even as breakfast..but important thing is this bread upma should be served hot right away. Old bread is preferred to this upma..so jus to utilize the day old bread u can make tasty upma
Ingredients:-
- Bread slices 6 to 8
- Potato 1 medium , boiled , peeled and diced
- green chilies 2 , finely chopped
- Onion 1 medium , finely chopped
- Mustard seeds 1/4th tspn (avvalu)
- Cumin seeds 1/2 tspn ( jeelakarra)
- Asafetida a pinch (inguva)
- turmeric powder 1/4th tspn
- Red chilli powder 1/2 tspn
- Salt to taste
- Oil 4 tspns.
Preparation:-
- break the bread slices into small pieces along with the crust (brown color boarder is crust).
- Heat 4 tspns of oil in a kadai, when the oil is hot enough add cumin and mustard seeds.
- When the seeds crackle add a pinch of asafetida and stir. Add 1/4th tspn of turmeric powder, 1/2 tspn of red chilli powder ,finely chopped one medium onion and finely chopped green chilies.saute till onion is slightly brown.
- now add potato ..mix it and add bread pieces and enough salt and mix well. let it cook for a minute and add fresh n finely chopped cilantro and 1 tspn of lemon juice..mix well n serve hot.
