pesara pappu talimpu / moong dal fry
Hi..
Pesara pappu talimpu is a very easy, quickly made n very tasty recipe..i got this recipe from my mother.when we don't have time to cook curry v can go for this dal..
it hardly takes 15 minutes in a pressure cooker..
Moong dal / Peasara pappu 1 cup
Onion 1 small
Tomato 1
green chillies 3
curry leafs
1 to 2 tspns of oil
mustard seeds 1/2 tspn ( avaalu)
cumin seeds 1/2 tspn ( jeelakarra)
turmeric powder 1/2 tspn
salt to taste
red chilli powder( optional)
lemon juice
Preparation:
soak moong dal in water for at least 5 minutes. cut the onion n green chillies into long slices.crush the garlic cloves.chop the tomato.
Heat the pressure cooker n add oil.when the oil is heat..reduce the flame to sim n add crushed garlic cloves n sauté for a 10 seconds, now add red chillies to it n sauté it for 4 to 5 seconds( red chillies should be broken to middle). Now add cumin and mustard seeds n sauté until the mustard seeds start popping up..now add sliced onions, green chillies n curry leaves,
sauté for 5 seconds ..add tomato and sauté it for 1 minute ..now add the soaked moong dal to the tadka( soaked dal should be washed well and water should be drained out) .Add 3 cups of water to it… now add salt, turmeric powder, red chilli powder ( its added only if the spice is very less or if u add less number green chillies). increase the flame to medium to high, close the cooker n let it cook until 3 whistles..now open the lid, smash the dal well and taste it to adjust the spices in it..now add lemon juice to it as required … serve hot..
This can be served with rice and rotis..it tastes awesome with ghee and / or pickle in rice….
