Sri Rama Navami celebrations..
Jai Shree Ram..
Happy Shree Rama Navami..
Followers of Hinduism normally perform Kalyanotsavam (marriage celebration) with small deities murtis of Rama and Sita in their homes, and at the end of the day the deity is taken to aprocession on the streets. This day also marks the end of the nine-day utsava called Chaitra Navaratri (Maharashtra) or Vasanthothsava (Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh & Tamil Nadu) (festival of Spring), which starts with Gudi Padwa (Maharashtra). According to recent astrological studies, some consider his date of birth to be January 10, 5114 B.C.

Some highlights of this day include
- Kalyanam, a ceremonial wedding performed by temple priests
- Panakam, a sweet drink prepared on this day with jaggery and pepper.
- Procession of murtis in the evening, accompanied by playing with water and colours.
Naivedyam on Rama navami:-
On this festival day panakam, chalividi vadapappu is given as offering to god..
Panakam:-
In water add enough jagree, pepper powder (miriyala podi) and crushed elachi for nice fragrance.
Water 4 cups
Jaggery 2 cups
pepper powder 1/2 tspn
elachi crushed 1
For preparing this panakam ..instead of following the measurement just see that the panakam should taste sweeter n also little spiciness of pepper.
This sweet, spicy n tasty panakam is very good for health…its good digestion n it gives a cooling effect to our stomach…I usually used to drink minimum 3 glasses..
1 or 2 in my home n 1 or 2 more in temple..as i go to temple to attend rama’s marriage..
Usually unmarried guys or girls should not bless the marriage couple..But for god’s marriage …every one can bless them..(devuni pelliki andaru peddale)
Chalividi:
This Chalividi is another offering to god..This is made In the following way
Rice flour 1 cup
Jaggre grated 1/2 cup
Water half 1 or 2 drops (optional)
Mix this rice flour n jaggre well till they become soft dough…u can add one or two drops of water for moisture if the mixture is very dry..
Note:-
- The rice flour for this chalividi should not store brought one…we have to make the rice flour with soaked rice.
- If chalividi is made with store brought rice flour it wont be tasty to eat..because we have to eat this raw powder..soaked one is best n tasty.
- For this …soak one glass of rice in water..Waite minimum for half an hour..now drain the water from the rice n let the rice become dry..for 15 minutes..because if have to get powder from that rice…You can remove the water and can spread the soaked rice on towel or cloth for 15 minutes…so that the rice become dry..
- Now in a mixer or blender blend the rice to fine powder..
- it would be better if we make this powder before day itself..so that it wont be hurry burry on festival day
Vada Pappu:-
Soak moon dal in water for 15 minutes…till they become soft..remove water when they r done…n place in a separate plate..
How to Prasadam:-
Take small amount of chalividi..press or roll in vadapappu..so that the pappu will stick to chalidivi..eat this n drink a glass of panakam..
Enjoy drinking panakam…Happy Sri Rama Navami..
