Bangala dumpa vepudu /Aloo fry /Potato fry



Aloo fry is one of my favorite dish…When ever i come to home from hostel …with other curries my mom surely used to make this quick aloo fry…its so simple..quickly made and tasty curry.

Though i make the curry as my mom did…still i miss that taste of her curry..becoz the main ingredient in the curry..”her love” missing in my curry…I miss u u..


Aloo 2

Oil 3 to 4 tspns

Green chillies 2(optional)

crushed garlic cloves 4

red chillies 5-6

chana dal 2 tspns

urad dal 2 tspns

mustard seeds 1/2 tspn

cumin seeds 1/2 tspn

curry leaves

turmeric powder

salt to taste

  1. Peel off the potato..wash it and cut it into very th in slices..(you can watch the   video for clear understanding)
  2. Heat oil in the skillet..when oil is hot enough add crushed garlic and sauté till the aroma comes..symbolizes that garlic is fried add broken redchillies,cumin seeds, mustard seeds,urad dal,chana dal and sauté till mustard pops up..the stove should be in low flame…other wise..mustard pops very soon  but chana dal wont get fried.
  3. When the mustard seeds starts popping up..add turmeric powder and salt..mix it well in the oil and add potato slices and stir it well….fry till the potato become soft and cooked.keep on separating the potato slices while frying to avoid sticking of the pieces together..can off the flame when the potato is nicely cooked /fried.

This fry can be a side dish for  any curry…if only dish is made then rasam or sambar makes a good combination to this fry..

This curry along with ghee taken with rice tastes very good.

Note:- Here chana dal and urad dal gives nice taste and crunchy effect while eating the we added more.

In this curry  we didn't add red chilli powder or green chillies..they r optional..u can add if u like..but adding red chilli powder gives red color to the curry..the actual yellowish         brown wont be i avoid red chilli powder..u can add if u  want..instead of red chili powder i add more red chillies to get the spiciness..even after adding more red chillies if the spiciness is not enough u can sprinkle some red chilli powder.

If oven is available then before frying if we cook the potato slices in oven for 4 to 5 minutes..they will be half cooked ..curry will be made very soon…cooking time is saved.
