Semiya pulihora /Vermicelli pulihora
Serves:3 to 4 persons || time taken :15 mints
Semiya pulihora is one of the easiest item prepared quickly. This can be made both as morning breakfast or evening snack. The cooked semiya is flavored with seasoning and lemon juice.
Ingredients:-
Semiya / vermicelli 2 cups
Lemon 1 or 2 (based on the juice they have)
Oil / ghee 3 spoons
chana dal 1 spoon ( pachi senga pappu)
urad dal 1 spoon ( minapappu)
mustard seeds 1 spoon ( aavalu)
Red chillies 3 to 4 , broke them to middle
Curry leaves few
ground nuts /pea nuts 1/4 cup ( quantity varies to ur wish)
cashews 10 to 12 (optional)
turmeric powder 1/2 tspn (pasupu)
Salt to taste.
Procedure:-
- Boil water in wide mouth vessel ..here there is no measure for water..can fill half of the vessel with water.When water comes to boil add semiya /vermicelli and let it cook for 4 to 5 minutes..till it becomes soft..don't over cook as it becomes mushy. when the vermicelli becomes soft ..off the flame and strain it under the cold water..so that the the semiya stops cooking as well as it wont stick it each other. .now let the water drain completely and spread on a wide plate.
- Heat the oil / ghee in a wide vessel ..when the oil is hot add the chana dal , urad dal ,mustard seeds, broken red chillies, ground nuts and curry leaves..saute for 5 to 10 seconds .now add cashew nuts and saute till the mustard seeds splits ..now add turmeric powder and add cooked vermicelli to it..add enough salt and stir it well .let it cook for 2 to 3 minutes and off the flame.
- Now add enough lemon juice to the dish mix it well. Tastes good when served hot.
