Salmon Fish Curry
Hi..
This is first time i cooked salmon fish curry..it came out really tasty…the taste of salmon is quiet different from tilapia fish…this recipe i got from net and its easy one..
INGREDIENTS:-
2 - (16 oz) salmon strips cut into cubes.(you can also use frozen ones)
4 cloves of garlic finely chopped.
2 onion finely chopped
2 spoons of chopped ginger
1/2 cup of tomato paste
1/2 cup tamarind paste
1/2 tsp turmeric power
1/2 tsp coriander powder
1 tsp of kuskus powder (gasagasalu)
few curry leaves
1/2 tsp cumin seeds
1/2 tsp mustard seeds
enough salt and red chilli powder
PROCEDURE:-
- Take 2 tsp of oil in a flat bottomed vessel.
- Add the cumin and mustard seeds when the oil is hot,saute till the mustard seeds start popping up
- Add the chopped garlic , onions,curry leaves,chopped ginger and fry till the onion turns translucent..now off the flame and let it cool down..once its become cool,grind it to paste..transfer back the paste to skillet and on the flame
- Now add all the remaining ingredients… tomato paste, tamarind paste,turmeric powder, coriander powder ,kuskus powder(gasagasala podi) and sufficient red chilli power and salt to taste
- Add 1 glass of water and mix well.Close with a lid and allow it to boil for 5 mints in a medium flame…when it starts cooking.. gently place the fish cubes in the gravy..reduce the flame to sim n let it cook for 15 to 20 mints on a very low flame…gravy will become little thick in the mean while n the fish cubes absorbs the spices from the gravy…n also the gravy gets nice fish flavor..off the flame when its done.
Note:-
- The skillet/pan should be wide for making fish curry…fish is very delicate so if it is wide skillet we can place the fish freely..with out placing one upon the other..
- Better if we don't use spoon after adding fish pieces…keep the flame in very low so that the gravy wont stick to base…carefully hold the handles of skillet rotate it slowly..so that the gravy gets mixed…if we use spoon the fish may break..this way is best.
- Instead of tomato paste if u use tomatoes..then add them while sauting onions n grind them with onions
- Have this curry with rice n ghee or with roitis…
